Age discrimination course
Valerie Crookston of Equality, Training and Consultancy and Giles Woolfson of McGrade + Co. Employment Lawyers, work in association to offer interactive training sessions on Age Discrimination legislation, which include the use of video clips and other background material, and involve activities, exercises, and handouts.
Course Aims and Objectives
The aim of this course is to help participants:
- Understand the new age discrimination legislation
- Develop non-ageist policies & practices within their workplace.

Learning outcomes
On completion participants will have:
- An understanding of the new rules on age discrimination
- Explored the business benefits of non-ageist practices
- Examined areas of their organisation’s current employment practices which may discriminate
- Identified policies & procedures that reflect an age neutral organisation
- Identified what should be contained in an action plan
Course Content
The course will provide a full explanation of the legal position, a range of practical tips and cost effective business ideas in relation to a number of areas, including the following:-
- Recruitment
- Training and Development
- Promotion
- Redundancy
- Retirement
- The course will include trainer led input, case studies and group discussions.
Participants will complete an action plan to assist with implementing what they have learned on the course.
